I’m in Manhattan tonight as a guest on Sean Hannity’s TV show. Earlier this evening, Sean pre-taped a one-hour special on the President’s trip to Israel. It will air on the Fox News Channel on Friday night at 9pm eastern.

Together, we analyzed the President’s trip to Israel, the Iran nuclear threat, whether Netanyahu has been given a “green light” to strike Iran, why the U.S. is selling fighter jets and tanks to Egypt now that it is run by the Muslim Brotherhood, looking back at the Iraq war 10 years later, and the threat of Radical Islam generally, among several other topics. Sean asked me about my novels and how I use them to help people imagine worst case scenarios. We discussed Damascus Countdown in particular and afterwards I gave Sean a signed copy.

The inevitable result of amoral, secular progressivism: Half of all first children born out of wedlock

This story is flat out shocking.

…for the first time in history the median age of American women having babies is lower than the median age of marriage – 25.7 and 26.5, respectively … 48 percent of first births are by unwed mothers, and by age 30 two-thirds of American women have had a child, typically out of wedlock.

What legacy media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) won’t tell you is this shocking fact: easy access to welfare is helping spur the record number of out-of-wedlock births. The more the welfare state provides, the more kids are born out of wedlock.

There have been dozens of studies that link the availability of welfare benefits to out-of-wedlock births. One study found that a 50 percent increase in the value of AFDC and foodstamp payments led to a 43 percent increase in the number of out-of-wedlock births.

Worse still, children raised in single-parent households are far more likely to commit crimes and end up incarcerated than their peers raised by both a Mother and a Father.

A U.S. Department of Health and Human Services study showed that a 50 percent increase in the monthly value of combined AFDC and food stamp benefits led to a 117 percent increase in the crime rate among young black men.

In 1995, Dr. Patrick Fagan wrote a seminal summary of the situation: “Over the past thirty years, the rise in violent crime parallels the rise in families abandoned by fathers… High-crime neighborhoods are characterized by high concentrations of families abandoned by fathers… The rate of violent teenage crime corresponds with the number of families abandoned by fathers… Neighborhoods with a high degree of religious practice are not high-crime neighborhoods… Even in high-crime inner-city neighborhoods, well over 90 percent of children from safe, stable homes do not become delinquents. By contrast only 10 percent of children from unsafe, unstable homes in these neighborhoods avoid crime… Criminals capable of sustaining marriage gradually move away from a life of crime after they get married.”

Obama and his Democrat sycophants are creating a lost generation of children — heavily tilted toward Black and Hispanic kids — needlessly condemning them to a culture of dependency, crime and violence.

With Obama in charge, these poor kids never had a chance.

“Like All Sleight-of-Hand Games It Cannot Continue Forever”

Spring is in the air, stock markets are driving higher than ever before, and happy days are here again.

Or are they?

The facts are that last night Japanese machinery orders fell 13% in January, despite the Japanese government pledging to “beat deflation” with new monetary operations (read: printing money) that has driven the Yen weaker by some 20% in the last couple of months.  That move started in December and as such should have been reflected in January’s order figures – if anyone believed it in Japanese business.

They clearly don’t.

Then there’s China.  They have a major property bubble problem, which is what always comes when you start printing cheap “money” (really credit) and allowing it to go into the real estate market.  In China’s case it’s built to the point of literal cities with nobody living in them.  That will eventually burst, and when it does you’ve got trouble.  China has the “luxury” of having an effective command economy since they’re a communist nation, but even that won’t change the laws of mathematics.

Finally we have Europe.  It’s a basket case.  Europe has failed to deal with its banks, it has failed to deal with its budget deficits and it is still trying to find a way to “pull forward demand” to fill fiscal holes.  It’s not working because it can’t — the leverage was never taken out.  Not there and not here.

We’re “printing” $ 85 billion a month and yet can only muster a 0.1% GDP print?  Let’s assume we manage to “rebound” and get a 2% GDP number.  We’re diluting purchasing power by ~8% annually!  Where is that going?  Right into the middle class and below’s pocketbook; like a thief in the night it comes and steals their buying power and that ultimately has to reflect in what they purchase — and thus what people sell.

There are those who argue that the housing market has “turned.”  Really?  Look at Las Vegas, where there are tens of thousands of homes sitting with people in them who haven’t made a mortgage payment in three years!

… The key question: Is this a stable environment or is it another bubble that will bust when cap rates fall?  And if the latter, and you erroneously bet on a “housing recovery”, are you going to get reamed twice in a decade?

In short what we have here is a market that is levitating upward not due to an improving macro environment but rather due to Fed monetary games.  This can and has worked for a while, but like all sleight-of-hand games it cannot continue forever, and won’t.  The structural imbalances that have been built over the last four years set the table for a snapback move worse than 2008.

This morning CNBS is playing a card that we “should” put forward fiscal policy mirroring The Fed’s views.  These clowns actually believe that the laws of mathematics have been repealed?

Give me a break.  The guy who decides he doesn’t need more than 2 hours of sleep a night and starts shoving coke up his nose to achieve that outcome may indeed produce more work with less sleep and appear to be more productive.

For a while.

But eventually he has a heart attack, and the question becomes this: What are you going to do when you collapse due to the abuse you have heaped on your body and now are able to produce nothing?

Our economy is experiencing chest pains and rapidly-escalating amounts of coke are going up the nose on a daily basis.

Fundamentally, nothing has changed since 2007. The only thing keeping the stock market rising and the economy seemingly stable is the literal Trillions of dollars of funny-money being slammed into the system on a regular basis. They did it in the U.S., in Europe and in China.

As Karl Denninger points out, this is akin to a cocaine addict continuously snorting to maintain their high. It always ends badly for the addict, as it will for us.

There is a strong chance that we see a stock market crash, or at the very least a massive correction, in coming weeks or months.

But, there is also the possibility that it keeps going higher, an effect of the Fed’s monetary easing and cheap money being given to banks who then leverage that money in stocks and other financial instruments. In this scenario, as we’ve seen since 2008, prices for essential goods continue to rise. What won’t rise is wages commensurate with the price inflation, which means that things like food, gas, and electricity become so expensive that disposable income shrinks to near zero (or goes negative) for the majority of Americans.

There is no way out.

All roads lead to a detonation of the financial, monetary and economic systems as we have come to know them.

Police State Raids Family’s Home: “The Fight Has Officially Been Brought To My Front Door”

When certified firearms instructor Shawn Moore posted a photo of his 11 year-old son on Facebook the last thing he expected was a SWAT style raid on his home. The picture showed his son, a licensed hunter, holding his new birthday gift, a .22 caliber rifle.

While Moore’s son proudly displaying his semi-automatic personal defense rifle was completely legal, an anonymous tipster contacted New Jersey’s Department of Children and Family Services and declared that the Moore family was neglecting and abusing their child, an unfounded accusation that led to the mobilization of local police who were apparently not at all concerned with the unconstitutionality of their actions which violated numerous protections of the Moore family including their right to bear arms, their right to be secure in their homes, their right to speak freely, and their right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

Of critical importance is that the police who raided the Moore home never even saw the photo.

“It was all hear say. Just a phone call saying someone saw a pic of a child holding a gun,” reports Moore.

Shawn Moore recounted the incident at the Delaware Open Carry forums:

The fight has officially been brought to my front door.

Last night I was out with a buddy of mine. I got a text from my wife that the cops and DYFS [Division of Youth and Family Services] are at the house and they wanna check out my guns and needed me to open my safe.

I’m instantly on my way. I get in contact with [attorney] Evan Nappen on the way. I explain the situation.

I walk in my house and hand the phone to the first cop I see. Then direct all of them outside. DYFS got a call because of a pic of my son holding a gun.

They wanted to look around and check all my guns out, make sure they were all registered.

Obviously that didn’t go well because I refused.

I had Nappen on speaker phone the entire time so they had to deal with both of us. They kept trying to pressure me to open my safe. They had no warrant, no charges, nothing.

I didn’t budge.

I was told I was being “unreasonable” and that I was acting suspicious because I wouldn’t open my safe. Told me they were gonna get a search warrant. Told em go ahead.

Nappen (my lawyer) asked me for the DYFS workers name. She wouldn’t give it. I asked for credentials and she wouldn’t show them. I tried to take a pic of her and she turned around real fast and walked away.

After a while of them threatening to take my kids, get warrants and intimidation they left. Empty handed and seeing nothing.

People it can happen that fast.

Police and Family Services overstepped their bounds when they illegally entered this man’s home, demanded he open his gun safe, and threatened to take away his children because of an anonymous tip based on absolutely zero evidence. 

This is the world in which we now find ourselves, where an American exercising his right to bear arms is considered suspicious simply because he refuses to give up his Constitutionally protected rights.

If you resist in any form or fashion you are immediately considered a criminal or terrorist.

The government and its storm troopers will continue to act brazenly, violating the rights of Americans until they are held accountable. As citizens, we are left with no other choice than to resist the tyranny and fight back, just as Shawn Moore did when they came for his guns AND his children. We can do this by understanding the laws of the land, and by documenting every interaction with officials of the government, who will stop at anything to pursue their agenda and stroke their own egos.

They will come to each of our front doors, and when they do, we must resist. We must fight back with every tool our Founding Fathers afforded us.

The Mantra: Practical Tips for Resisting the Police State

Sun Tzu counseled that it is madness – because pointless – to directly confront a superior foe. A costumed goon with a badge and a gun, for instance. You will lose (cue Dolph Lundgren voice from Rocky IV).

But that doesn’t mean you must cooperate with said goon.

In that spirit, here are some practical tips and things to keep in mind the next time you’re compelled to interact with one of America’s Swinest:

• Never forget: Cops are not your friend; they are not there to “help” you. They are there to bust you. Don’t make it easier for them. Make it harder for them.


• Never forget that cops are legally permitted to lie to you. Take nothing they tell you at face value. Assume their intentions are malignant.


• Never forget that a cop is a law enforcer. He is there to enforce the law – any law, every law. It doesn’t matter whether the law is reasonable – or whether you’re a nice guy who doesn’t “deserve” to be hassled. Cops are paid to enforce the law. Period.


• If stopped, keep your window rolled up almost all the way; leave just enough of a gap to allow you to hand the cop your license/documents. If he “asks” you to roll it down, politely decline. Whenever a cop “asks,” it means you do not have to comply. If they order you to do something, then you must do it. But force them to make it clear you are being ordered to comply – “Is that an order?” – and are only complying under duress and not of your own free will.


• Be civil – not slavish. A cop is not “sir.” By so addressing him, you feed his inner bully and Rule Number One for dealing effectively with bullies is to not let them think you are a pussy. Simple – and curt – “yes” and “no” answers will get the point across without being directly confrontational.


• Never make the mistake of responding directly to a cop’s purposefully leading questions – which means, all of his questions. If the cop says, “Do you know why I stopped you?” You tell him, “I suppose you will tell me your reason.” If he says, “Do you know how fast you were going?” You say, “I’m sure you have an opinion.” If he asks whether you’ve been drinking, you remain silent.


• Never concede anything that could be construed – will be construed in court – as evidence in support of whatever charges are leveled at you.


• Never admit to anything – ever.


• Never attempt to excuse anything you may have done. Be silent. Shrug. But do not make excuses. Do not offer an explanation. If you do, you’ve just handed the cop exactly what he wants most – a tacit admission of guilt, which in court will become the basis for establishing your legal guilt.


• You have to give them your ID and insurance info – if you are operating a motor vehicle on “public” roads.  It is “the law.” But you do not – yet – have to tell them where you’re going, where you’ve been – or anything else. If asked, shrug.  State – politely, calmly – that you won’t be answering any questions.


• Ask – repeatedly – whether you are free to go. It’s an excellent stock answer to cop questions.


• If you have a concealed carry permit, the cop probably already knows – having run your license plate info through the computer in his car. Still, it is good policy to tell him, even if you are not legally obligated to do so (it varies, state to state). This is a psychological tactic which shows you (in the cop’s eyes) to be “cooperative” without your actually having complied with anything that’s against your interests. It may help defuse the situation – important when guns are involved.


• Never consent to a search. If a cop asks for permission, he is asking permission. It means he hasn’t got legal probable cause – yet. Do not give it to him. Politely tell him, “I do not consent to any searches.” Repeat as necessary.  If he searches you/your vehicle anyway, you may have a legal basis for challenging the admissibility of anything found. But if you gave your consent to the search – and not objecting is the same as consenting – then anything found as a result of that search can and will be used against you in court.


• Record the interaction. Higher courts have consistently ruled it is legal to do so, irrespective of what the cop tells you (see point made above about cops lying). There is no expectation of privacy in public. He can record you – you can record him. Use audio and video. If the cop “asks” you to turn off the equipment, politely decline. Merely state you are recording the interaction in the interests of everyone’s safety.

Just like they do to us.

Here’s the first few paragraphs from the op-ed I wrote for Fox News:

(Washington, D.C.) — To say that the pundits have low expectations for President Obama’s trip to  Israel and Jordan this week would be putting it mildly. Most expect a series of  photo ops, but no serious progress on the three major issues: the Iran nuclear  threat, the implosion of Syria, and the moribund Israeli-Palestinian peace  process.

“It is hard for me to recall a less-anticipated trip to Israel by an American  president,” noted Thomas L. Friedman in his recent column in the New  York Times. “But there is a message in that empty bottle: Little is expected  from this trip — not only because little is possible, but because, from a narrow  U.S. point of view, little is necessary.”

Actually, much is necessary. The president needs to “re-set” U.S.-Israeli  relations in a positive way after a contentious relationship with Israeli Prime  Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the first term. But that is the just the  beginning.

There are three critical questions the president needs to answer on this  trip….

As the first Nobel Peace Prize winner to direct the killings of over 4,700 individuals using drone-based warfare (including children, if the Puffington Roast is to be believed) and to reverse himself on a missile defense shield, President Obama added another feather to his hawk cap this week:

The United States is flying nuclear-capable B-52 bombers on training missions over South Korea to highlight Washington’s commitment to defend an ally amid rising tensions with North Korea, Pentagon officials said Monday.

Pentagon press secretary George Little said one B-52 flew over South Korea on March 8, and the deputy defense secretary, Ashton Carter, said during a visit to Seoul that another bomber mission is scheduled for Tuesday.

B-52 bombers are capable of launching nuclear-armed cruise missiles, but Little said those participating in the Korean exercise are not armed with nuclear weapons… the Pentagon used the occasion to draw attention to the role B-52 bombers play as part of an American nuclear “umbrella” over South Korea and Japan – both of which feel threatened by North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

In a more dramatic demonstration of that concern, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Friday announced that the U.S. is beefing up its defenses against a potential North Korean missile attack on the U.S. He said that over the coming four years the Pentagon will add 14 missile interceptors to the 26 it already has in place at Fort Greely, Alaska, at an estimated cost of $ 1 billion.

Obama’s reversal on a missile-defense shield is particularly troubling. As The Wall Street Journal puts it, his about-face represents a “A tacit admission that the U.S. will soon be vulnerable to attack.”

25 Things That the SHTF Doesn’t Care About

SHTF doesn’t generally drop by at the best of times.  In fact, SHTF thrives and grows exponentially under more adverse circumstances.

So, suck it up, put on your boots, and power through it – SHTF doesn’t care and neither can you!

1. SHTF doesn’t care about inclement weather – snow, hail, tornadoes and hurricanes all just add to the party atmosphere for SHTF.


2. SHTF doesn’t care that you sprained your ankle, broke your leg or are otherwise less than ambulatory. If you have to bug out without a vehicle, you have to bug out, regardless of your injury status.


3. SHTF doesn’t care that you decided to start prepping after the trip to Disneyworld (because that trip is expensive!!!!)


4. SHTF doesn’t care that you are on a boat in the middle of  the ocean, regardless of what you paid for the luxury cruise.  (Check out recent ill-fated Carnival Cruise of the Triumph if you don’t believe me!)


5. SHTF doesn’t care that you had planned to get your vehicle repaired.  You have to evacuate regardless of the leak from the oil pan, the condition of the brakes and the funny noise in the transmission.


6. SHTF doesn’t care that the entire family is ill with the stomach flu.  The entire family will just have to pause to throw up while bugging out.


7. SHTF doesn’t care that you need new hiking boots and that you just haven’t had time to get to the store and buy them.


8. SHTF doesn’t care that you planned to buy some bulk foods with your next paycheck.


9. SHTF doesn’t care that you always use electronic banking. If the ATMS are down and you have no cash, you cannot buy anything.


10. SHTF doesn’t care that you used all your ammo at the range and Wal-Mart has been out for the past month.


11. SHTF doesn’t care that the grocery store is closed because of a power outage and you only have a can of peas and some saltine crackers in the house.


12. SHTF doesn’t care that you are wearing high heels when your car plummets to the bottom of a ravine – you still have to climb out.


13. SHTF doesn’t care that the pharmacies are closed because of a pandemic and that you have no OTC or herbal medicines at home – if you catch the virus, you will suffer through it without medicine to treat it. And so will your kids.


14. SHTF doesn’t care that your truck is almost out of gas and the local gas stations have closed because of the disaster.  If you have to bug out, you may end up walking instead of driving.


15. SHTF doesn’t care that you are depressed because you just broke up with your spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend. S happens when S happens.


16. SHTF doesn’t care that you have made a rock solid plan to get in shape - as soon as the weather warms up.


17. SHTF doesn’t care that you are visiting your in-laws, the most unprepared people on the planet.


18. SHTF doesn’t care that you had planned to get the propane tank refilled and now the propane trucks aren’t running.


19. SHTF doesn’t care that your wood is not dry.
    


20. SHTF doesn’t care that you have 300 pounds of beans and rice but failed to plan on a way to cook them.


21. SHTF doesn’t care that you don’t know how to cook over an open fire without inflicting 2nd degree burns on yourself.


22. SHTF doesn’t care if you have only a week’s supply of toilet paper – if the crisis lasts longer than a week, things will be progressively less pleasant regardless of your intention to purchase more Charmin.


23. SHTF doesn’t care you planned to reinforce your door frame and install a metal security door – if thugs arrive to invade your home, your hollow core door will serve as a minor inconvenience instead of a deterrent.


24. SHTF doesn’t care if you believe the fecal matter is headed towards the oscillating device or whether you think it’s a conspiracy theory.


25. Whatever your excuse may be, you may rest assured, it could easily be on this list.   And SHTF won’t care about that either.
